Building Transformation Through the Power of Voice
Since its creation, M.A.D.E. (Making Advances Destroying Excuses) has empowered individuals to embrace the power of their voice through poetry, storytelling, authentic dialogue, and community engagement. Every workshop, performance, and conversation is designed to help people move beyond limiting identities and toward purposeful living.
Highlights
● Developed the M.A.D.E. curriculum, a voice-centered program that helps participants align their voice with action through reflection, writing, discussion, and performance.
● Facilitates M.A.D.E. workshops with youth, college students, and community organizations, creating spaces where participants build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and explore identity.
● Led classroom discussions and facilitated M.A.D.E. sessions at DePaul University, encouraging meaningful dialogue and active student participation through poetry and storytelling.
● Presented poetry readings and spoken-word performances throughout the Chicagoland area, using original work to spark conversations about identity, resilience, accountability, faith, justice, healing, and transformation.
● Featured as a poet and facilitator at community events, educational programs, artistic showcases, and public discussions that bring people together through the power of storytelling.
● Partnered with educators, artists, nonprofit organizations, and community leaders to create experiences that encourage empathy, reflection, and personal growth.
● Founded M.A.D.E. STRONG ENTERPRISES LLC to expand educational programming, keynote presentations, workshops, consulting, and artistic engagement throughout the community.
● Published Watch Me Rise, a poetry collection that chronicles a journey of transformation while inspiring readers to embrace their own voice and purpose.
What We Measure
At M.A.D.E., success is not measured solely by the number of workshops we facilitate or poetry readings we perform.
Success is measured by the conversations that continue after the event…
the voices that become more confident…
the perspectives that begin to shift…
and the lives that move closer to purpose.
Because when people embrace the power of their voice and align it with intentional action…
Transformation becomes possible.
